Hi my name is Lydia, frontline worker for the southcoast urgent cares.
My hours has been reduced from 40 hrs a week to 38 hrs a week. Do I qualify to apply for PUA under the cares act?
Also I am an independent contractor and file 1099. The workplace that I work for closed back in March. Do I qualify to apply for PUA under the cares act.
Because my wife loss her job due to covid-19 back in March and being a non citizen She could not qualify for unemployment benefits. I’ve been struggling all this moths to catch up on bills , food and rent. Is there any rent assistance that could help me pay my rent for July? I will not be able to pay July rent And I don’t know what to do.
I will appreciate any help.
Thank you
Lydia
Hi Lydia,
Here is the link to find out if you qualify for the PUA for your reduced hours. http://familyvaluesatwork.org/rights. You may need to fill it out for each job. Also, the RAFT program may be able to help you with your July rent. You can learn more at https://www.mass.gov/how-to/apply-for-assistance-to-keep-your-family-housed.
We hope these resources help you!
