Coalition for Social Justice Education Fund
Location: New Bedford or Fall River
Temporary employment starting ASAP until November 3 rd 2021. Up to 15 hours a week. Work is primarily on weekends or weekdays after 5 but before sunset.
The Coalition for Social Justice is dedicated to building a grassroots movement for progressive social change viewed through
a race and gender lens, rooted in communities that have been excluded from the economic benefits of the current system.
Essential Job Functions: Walking for long distances, talking to the public, memorizing a script, speaking confidently about
issues, and collecting information.
GOAL: Reach registered voters to educate them about what is at stake in municipal
elections and future elections.
Scope of Work
The canvassers duties and responsibilities listed below are subject to change depending on campaign evolution needs:
Follow all required health and safety measures as dictated by local authorities and CSJ to the strictest standards.
Memorize and recite scripts and statements prepared and provided.
Go door-to-door, as well as make cold calls to follow-up, make pitches and process responses.
Collect data accurately and consistently with high standards.
Demonstrate strong knowledge of the product, service or policies to convince people to take part in the program or services.
Get information, such as contact details and signatures for follow-up
Confidently answer questions and rebuff excuses to meet objectives.
Consistently meet weekly goals for information and contact attempts.
Attend required meetings as necessary and stay up to date on project changes or updates.
Take photos and other related media when necessary.
Serve as outstanding ambassadors for CSJ
Required Attributes and Skills:
Self-motivation, the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate with people from different backgrounds.
Organizational skills and ability to meet strict deadlines are a must
Adaptable to changing needs and program priorities
Positive attitude required; humor preferred
Ability to use technology (smartphones, computers, video conference, tablets) to keep records
Fluency in other languages, especially Portuguese, Brazilian Portuguese, Spanish, K’iche’, Cape Verdean Creole, or Haitian Creole.
